The definition of a good restaurant is not dependent on its size and ambience, but on the quality of food and magnanimity of the staff. Along that line, some of the best dining experiences I have had so far are in small cafés and diners.
Café Mojo is located 15 minutes away from the heart of Trivandrum city and is easy to find. The interior is minimalistic with posters of Hepburn and Monroe. The décor allows the patrons to comfortably enjoy their food. It seemed like the ratio of waiters to customers was high given the small setting.
The menu offers a combination of Thai and Chinese cuisines with a little hint of Italian. The menu has a kid’s section as well. We ordered chicken clear soup which was good but not the best. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the soup was well garnished with herbs. The portion size was good enough to share between two people. When we moved on to order the pasta, the waiter was indulgent enough to ask what kind of sauce we wanted and suggested we try the Penne Alfredo Fungi. The pasta was quite remarkable. Perfectly cooked vegetables and mushrooms with tasty white sauce and seasoning. With herbs gently sprinkled over it and the food arranged quite aesthetically, the pasta had the look and feel of a refreshing dish.
The café provided us with friendly staff and good food, even though it was a bit heavy on our pockets. There is still room for improvement. Overall, we had a satisfactory experience and enjoyed every bite.
